Willow Glen softball player Katelynn Dilbeck has been named Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week for March 14-20 after she received 16,071 votes (35.69%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Pinole Valley softball player Melina Mendoza (28.17%) finished second and Hercules softball player Haley Solis placed third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Dilbeck, a freshman center fielder, went 3 for 5 and scored six runs as the Rams improved to 9-2 with two easy wins. She also made her first pitching appearance of the year, throwing a scoreless inning against Independence to complete a five-inning no-hitter.
She has scored 14 runs, second on the team.
