Harker basketball player Anjali Yella is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete for the week for Dec. 6-12 after receiving more than 9,000 votes (34.27%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

San Leandro basketball player Maya Pollard (24.41%) finished second and Campolindo’s Mia Colombini (23.55%) took third.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Yella, a sophomore guard, scored 63 points in three games as Harker improved to 7-0. She had 24 points, six rebounds, five assists and six steals against South San Francisco and began this week leading the team in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals. Yella is also on the track team.
