Bishop O’Dowd basketball standout Amaya Bonner has been named Bay Area News Group high school girls athlete of the week for Jan. 17-23 after she received 9,550 votes (30.24%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Fremont-Sunnyvale wrestler Hana Duus (23.91%) finished second and Carondelet basketball standout Talana Lepolo (19.36%) took third.

Bonner, ESPN’s top Bay Area recruit, scored 29 points in a 75-63 victory over Lick-Wilmerding at the Sabrina Ionescu Showcase at Carondelet.
She also had 16 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots in a 43-38 victory over Alameda.
The 6-1 guard and 4-star recruit has signed with Cal.
