Saratoga baseball player Lucas Dennis, the runner-up in last week’s voting, is the Bay Area News Group athlete of the week for May 9-15 after he received 10,196 votes (40.65%) at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Santa Clara track and field athlete Liam Brennan (15.40%) placed second and Monta Vista volleyball player Lance Tong (13.90%) was third.

Dennis pitched a no-hitter for the second consecutive week. The junior held Fremont-Sunnyvale hitless with nine strikeouts and five walks one week after Lynbrook was unable to get a hit against him.
Saratoga beat Fremont 8-0 as Dennis also had two hits and scored a run.
