Dougherty Valley baseball player Ethan Hsu has been named Bay Area News Group boys high school athlete of the week for April 11-17 after he had collected 12,246 votes (42.48%) at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Castro Valley baseball player Matthew Cormier (10,923 votes, 37.89%) was second and Branham baseball player Liam Thompson placed third.

Hsu, a Princeton-bound senior, went 3 for 3, drove in two runs and scored a run as Dougherty Valley stunned Foothill 3-2 in East Bay Athletic League play.
Entering the game, Dougherty Valley was winless and Foothill was unbeaten in league play.
Dougherty Valley began this week 12-6 overall.
