Hillsdale football player Liam Smith is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 11-17 after receiving 9,523 votes (47.55%) by the deadline at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Menlo football player Ty Richardson (44.36%) took second and Woodside water polo player Jake Anderson finished third.

Smith, a junior, completed 19 of 34 passes for 304 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for a team-high 62 yards in 11 carries as Hillsdale outlasted Capuchino 42-41 in overtime.
