This is the season for holiday lights in all their twinkly, glittering splendor. But while most of us hang a few strands and call it a (holi)day, some people go far beyond. They deck their halls in such extravagant fashion, crowds flock from across the Bay Area to marvel from the sidewalks and streets.
Contra Costa County offers plenty of holiday spectacle, from mechanized gingerbread houses to Christmas villages, Santa sightings and millions of lights. Antioch photographer Greg Rehm, for example, transforms his home at 2921 Camby Road into the “Candy Cane House of Antioch” where families can have their photos taken with Santa.
Rehm isn’t the only holiday lights wizard in Antioch. Disney-esque trains are displayed at 3732 Colonial Court, and an army of illuminated snowmen and candy canes grace the front yard at 2556 Bluerock Drive.
Check out the slide show above for a sneak peek, then hit the road to explore the light shows here, in Alameda County, Santa Clara County, the Peninsula and across the entire Bay Area. (Psst, did we miss your favorite spot? Tell us about it in the comments.)
