Burning Man’s wild festivities are unfolding at Nevada’s Black Rock Desert Aug. 26 through Sept. 3, with more events and activities than any one human can even contemplate. We’ve got 10 hot suggestions — including a Dragon Camp Armory with aluminum bikini workshops — for your Day 5 on the Playa.

THURSDAY, AUG. 30

  1. Playa Nature Bike Tour: 8-11 a.m. Aug. 28, 30. Hosted by Earth Guardians. The Playa may seem featureless, but the lake bed is a complex environment. Search for clues to the shape of the constantly changing surface. See how the city and art affects the environment, and how Burning Man strives to Leave No Trace.http://www.earthguardians.net
  2. Dragon Camp Armory: 8:30 a.m.-noon Aug. 27-Sept. 1. Hosted by DragonCamp Cyber Armory. Location: 4:30 and Rod’s Road. Learn to make an aluminum bikini in this two-hour workshop, with pre-cut patterns for all sizes. When finished, step over to the dungeon set for a photo op or pose with the giant animatronic dragon/dinosaur. dragoncamparmory@gmail.com
  3. La Calaca Village Burning Woman Playa: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Aug. 27-Sept. 2. Hosted by La Calaca Village. Location: 3:00 and K/L. La Calaca Village has planned its own Mini-Playa. Come see the centerpiece, “Burning Woman,” who will be led to the Temple via a procession sometime … before it burns Sunday. Her garden will also feature art and activities including the Whirling Dervish, Calaca Trampoline, Blacklight Mural art, performance stages and more. https://bit.ly/2LthAJo
  4. Kubb Kicks: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Aug. 27-Sept. 2. Hosted by Two Lanterns. Play the Swedish game Kubb, which involves interactive play with wooden pieces. https://bit.ly/2Jy01Gi
  5. Fantastical Metal Sculpture Garden: 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Aug. 27-Sept. 2. Hosted by Art of Disruption. A home to a menagerie of plants and creatures, this literal sculpture garden will be a place of escape, contemplation and wonderment. Chill out spaces, propane flame FX and burn barrels in the garden will provide both solitary and social experiences. https://docs.google.com/presentation
  6. Mask Making, Body Paints and Robotification Station: Noon-4 p.m. Aug. 28 and 30. Hosted by Paradise Motel. Come get a snow cone and make your own robot mask under the shade. The camp will provide the blank mask, drawing implements and non-moopy adornments to attach to your mask, or you can bring your own. There are also body paints on hand to complete the robot look. Paradise Motel
  7. Cosmic Casino: 1-5 p.m. Aug. 28-Sept. 1. Hosted by Stardust Lounge. Visitors can play classic casino games or games of chance with our crew of space cadets, robots, tarot card mystics, cult leaders, trash pandas and more. Stardust Lounge
  8. Shwar Town Kombucha Dance Party: 1-5 p.m. Aug. 28-30. Hosted by Shwar Town. Northwest-brewed kombucha will be paired with top-notch DJs playing deep/tech house, bass and so much more. The camp has provided kombucha from Eugene and Portland, Oregon, to the Playa every year for more than a decade. https://www.facebook.com/shwartown/
  9. Get Married by Robot Elvis: 2-7 p.m. Aug. 27-31. Hosted by Elvis Wedding Chapel and Gardens. For individuals, couples, trios and other configurations without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, species or any other limiting factor. Rev. L. Ron Presley, assisted by the Good Rev. Bubba Ho-Tep, will officiate over a variety of custom-tailored ceremonies, ending with an appearance by the life-size, audio-anatomically accurate ELBOT 2000. Fashion experts outfit the bride, groom and attendants in dazzling Playa finery in the Bridezilla Lounge. http://www.elvischapelbrc.wordpress.com
  10. Furniture Car Rally and Fashion Show: 2-6 p.m. Hosted by Furniture Car Rally Camp. A showcase for drivers and enthusiasts of motorized sofas, recliners, chairs, shopping carts, picnic tables, grandfather clocks, tiki bars, dance floors, stripper poles, hot tub vehicles (HTVs) and anything remotely furniture you can sit on/in/at/up and drive to the rally. Wear your biggest and brightest Playa rally outfit (think black-and-white checkered everything) for the fashion show. Parking lot opens at 2 p.m., fashion show at 4 p.m., sunset cruise starts at 6 p.m.
