Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday from complications to metastatic cancer. She was 87.

The jurist was revered as a champion of women’s rights as she became the high court’s second female justice. She leaves a long legacy as the leader of the court’s liberal wing in her final years, which is marked by fiery dissents. Her work earned her numerous admirers and they gave her the nickname “the Notorious RBG.”

The photo gallery above shows the Supreme Court justice over the years. It shows her nomination and her swearing-in ceremony. It follows her career in the highest court in the land. It finishes with one of her appearances in 2020 during a discussion of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington. The 19th Amendment guaranteed women the right to vote.
