Members of the Fremont and Hayward Resonate Church campuses stood at the intersection of Bernal Avenue and Valley Avenue holding signs encouraging vehicles to honk and support firefighters battling numerous California wildfires. The group also cheered and waved to passing fire trucks entering and exiting a base camp for firefighters located at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. Throughout the week, the group has shown their support in the morning and again in the evening.
Cal Fire and other firefighters from out of state have been battling wildfires caused by lightning in Northern California. The Pleasanton base camp is located near the SCU Complex Fire that encompasses parts of Santa Clara County, Alameda County, Contra Costa County, San Joaquin County, Merced, and Stanislaus Counties. Currently, the SCU Complex Fire has burned 374,471 acres, making it the second-largest wildfire in California’s recorded history.
