OAKLAND — One man was shot to death early Saturday in an Eastlake area hotel parking lot and two other men were wounded Friday night  in an apparent running gun battle in East Oakland, authorities said.

The fatal shooting was reported at 12:03 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Americas Best Value Inn, 122 East 12th St., authorities said.

Police said a 25-year-old man, whose name was not released, had just gotten into his car when he was shot by someone from outside. He died at the scene.

Police said they were told the man had just registered at the hotel Friday.

A motive for the killing has not been determined and no arrests have been made.

The killing is the 21st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 28 homicides in the city.

The gun battle that left the two men wounded started just after 7 p.m. in the 6000 block of Sunnymere Avenue near Seminary Avenue just south of Interstate 580.

Authorities said a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were in a car that was being shot at by the occupants of another vehicle that pursued them for several blocks eastbound on Sunnymere before driving off.

At least one of the two men wounded apparently returned fire at one point, authorities said.

The car the two men were in crashed into a fence in the 4000 block of Edwards Avenue about a mile away. The 24-year-old man was found there with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities said he was uncooperative about what had happened and was taken to a  hospital where he was in stable condition.

The 21-year-old man got his own transportation to the hospital where he was in stable condition with a gunshot wound. He also was uncooperative about what had happened, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting has not been determined and no arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in both the homicide and the double shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
