California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday said 150 people have died from COVID-19 in the state and more than 650 people are currently in hospital intensive care units receiving treatment for the potentially deadly disease.

Others are simply saying thank you to those continuing to work. Residents, streamers and students around the Bay Area have united to collect hand sanitizer for local shelters, hospices and jails, create masks for hospital workers or donate money to international groups aiding other countries fighting the pandemic.
