Laken Tomlinson’s working conditions have changed perhaps more than any other 49ers’.

Flanking him at left tackle is Trent Williams instead of Joe Staley. Looming across the line of scrimmage is top draft pick Javon Kinlaw instead of DeForest Buckner.

Mix that combination with the COVID-19 concerns all 49ers share and Tomlinson is encouraged by his adjustment to new surroundings. Tomlinson shared his insights on that in Wednesday’s video call with reporters:

.

On Trent Williams: “It’s been amazing just going out there with the walk throughs and as we enter Phase 2. It’s been awesome. Credit goes to (coach Kyle) Shanahan and (general manager John) Lynch getting Trent in the building. Getting guys like that is amazing for our offense.”

On Javon Kinlaw: “He’s just a specimen. I can’t wait to go against him live in camp. I’m sure other guys excited to see him go.”

On COVID-19 concerns: “Personally I haven’t rally thought about (opting out). I made up my mind during the offseason what I wanted to do for myself and the team this season. I trust the (players’ association) and the league to keep everyone healthy, not just the players but the coaches, staff and families.”
