The United States is negotiating with the Taliban in Afghanistan to end America’s longest war, according to AP.

Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown (84) carried an NFL-approved helmet off the field at the team’s practice facility on the 26th day of training camp, ending a saga that involved Brown filing two grievances against the league to wear his old helmet.

Argentina’s stock market crashed and its currency plunged after surprising election results in an August primary ahead of the country’s Oct. 27 presidential election, Business Insider reported.

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron met in Paris this week to continue negotiating Brexit, Britain’s departure from the European Union.

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the “Stephon Clark” law setting new standards to limit police shootings and use-of-force, which is now only allowed when considered “necessary.”

President Trump dismissed concerns about an impending economic recession before White House aides acknowledged them, saying officials discussed a temporary payroll tax cut to boost consumer spending in the face of a potential slowdown.

Later in the week, Trump called himself “the Chosen One” to address trade imbalances with China, as Reuters reported that Congressional researchers warned Trump’s tariffs would reduce U.S. economic output in 2020.

Denmark’s Prime Minister rejected President Trump’s plan to purchase Greenland, a Danish territory and the world’s largest island, which was not for sale in the first place.

More than two dozen local, state and federal law enforcement agencies arrested 13 people in a long-hyped Portland rally where right-wing protesters from white supremacist groups like the Proud Boys skirmished with left-wing, anti-fascist counter protesters. Outside of those arrests, which involved police also seizing bear spray, shields, poles and other weapons, the “End Domestic Terrorism” rally on Aug. 17 was mostly peaceful.
