As usual, Nicole Lacob brought her iconoclastic fashion A-game to hang out courtside with her husband, Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob, at Game 4 of the NBA Finals Friday.
Lacob, also as usual, brandished the Warriors’ team colors, notably donning gold thigh-high boots, a gold Cleopatra-like neck collar and bracelets, and other jewelry with plenty of bling.
But this was two nights after Lacob’s unfortunate viral moment with music superstars Beyonce and Jay-Z. So, for Friday night’s game, the stylish, 5-foot-9-inch brunette decided to use fashion to deliver another message.
“Have a Nice Day,” read the words on Lacob’s shimmery silver-blue shirt — which she paired with blue jeans.
As the world now knows, Lacob was sitting courtside Wednesday night with Beyonce and Jay-Z.
By the way, to socialize with the music super couple, the president of the Warriors Community Foundation donned a silky gold wrap dress, elaborate gold hand wear and another pair of glittery thigh-high boots.
Lacob’s self-described attempts to take Beyonce and Jay-Z’s drink order resulted in that unfortunate viral moment.
Beyonce’s fans, known as the Beyhive, misinterpreted the scene as Lacob disrespecting their queen by leaning over her to talk to Jay-Z. But Lacob said she was just leaning in to hear what the rapper and music mogul wanted to drink above the roar of the crowd in Oracle Arena.
The Beyhive was not concerned about such details and launched a scorched-earth social media attack, leaving Lacob having to disable her Instagram account after she said she was inundated with hateful messages and death threats
If Lacob was in tears Wednesday night, she was back to form Friday night, cheering on her husband’s team — even as the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors 105-92.
Lacob also took hugs from people courtside. Her “Have a Nice Day” message clearly showed she was ready to reassert her best known role — as the most stylish woman at any Warriors game.
Certainly, the former high school teacher with the slender model’s frame can carry off some pretty daring ensembles and accessories. Over the years, these ensembles have featured thigh-high suede boots, floppy hats and a leather punk rock jacket, as well as couture.
But there is always the gold, and usually some blue — whether the colors come in the form of simple gold hoop earrings to accent a simple black top, a royal blue blazer or slacks, or the shiny and flowing gold coat she slipped on before the start of Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals in May.
