Physician overseeing U.S. response to COVID-19 pandemic says country “underestimated” community spread

Dr. Deborah Birx made the comment Wednesday in a video conference hosted by the Atlantic Council think tank, according to the Washington Post. She added that leaders in states not hard-hit at the outset “thought they would be forever spared.”

Disney parks set to reopen this month amid coronavirus pandemic

Walt Disney World parks in Orlando, Fla., are scheduled to reopen this week, CNN reported. However, Disney’s Anaheim theme parks and hotels remain closed until further notice, but the Downtown Disney outdoor shopping mall is set to reopen July 9.

U.S. looks at banning Tik Tok and other Chinese social media apps 

“With respect to Chinese apps on people’s cell phones, I can assure you the United States will get this one right, too,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham in an interview. “I don’t want to get out in front of the president, but it’s something we’re looking at.”

Pompeo’s remarks come during a time of heightened tensions between the United States and China, which have spilled over into such arenas as national security, trade and technology.
