Here are the top concerts of the week for the San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland areas, highlighted by the return of one of pop music’s biggest stars.
Ariana Grande
Fresh off her headlining appearances at the mammoth Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, Grande returns to Northern California for two performances.
The pop superstar supports her two latest blockbusters, 2018’s “Sweetener” and this year’s “Thank U, Next,” on May 2 at the SAP Center in San Jose and May 3 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
Normani and Social House open both shows.

Passion Pit
The indie-pop act celebrates the 10th anniversary of its debut album, “Manners,” on May 5 at the Masonic in San Francisco. The Beaches open the show.

Afro-Cuban All Stars
Buena Vista Social Club founder Juan de Marcos Gonzalez leads these All Stars in four nights of music at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco.

Betty Who
