This photo provided by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office shows a rescuer holding a 6-week-old kitten after it was removed from a storm drain in Cupertino, Calif., Tuesday, May 21, 2019. A woman walking in Cupertino heard meowing and looked down to see the tiny ball of fur at the bottom of the drain Tuesday morning. The Sheriff’s office says members of the San Jose Fire Department lifted the heavy metal grating on the drain and a deputy jumped down to rescue the orange and white calico. Cats have a reputation for being trouble. They’re sometimes described as standoffish, spiteful and deliberately deranged. Yet, millions of people wouldn’t dream of living a life without a feline in it, leading us to suspect cats need a better public relations team.

Count us among the throngs who love cats, some in spite of their reputations and some because of it. At least life is never dull when you have a cat.

To celebrate June being National Adopt-a-Cat month, we’re dedicating this month’s reader photos slideshow to all those fabulous felines — the sassy Siamese, the curious calico, the titillating tiger and all the rest. Upload pictures of your cats here and we’ll include them in the slideshow. Then bookmark this page and check back often to see all the photos.

If you don’t have a cat, or you’re thinking of adding to your harem, visit your favorite animal rescue group and shelter to find a friend. There will be plenty — June also is kitten season.

Here are some other slideshows we’ve featured.
