Alex and Sarah Hult’s Flights restaurant is in mad expansion mode. With locations in Campbell, Burlingame and Los Gatos, the fourth Flights has just opened on Mountain View’s busy Castro Street corridor — and there’s another headed for Las Vegas next summer.

Like its sisters, the new Mountain View eatery offers flights of all sorts — with trios of meatballs, sliders and more. Here’s what we found inside.

THE VIBE: This is no serious or subdued experience. The Flight theme is extended to every nook and cranny, from the sleek black-and-white photos of airplanes to the servers, who act as flight attendants — complete with call buttons on each table.

THE FOOD: Everything here comes in threes. Long rectangular boards or platters arrive with cute triple-interpretations on a theme, Meatballs ($18), for example, that with Swedish lingonberries, Italian marinara and pineapple teriyaki served in tiny skillets. Or Empanadas ($15) filled with al pastor, truffle, and ground beef.

There are slider flights, grilled cheese trios and french fry medleys — and healthier options, too. A Hummus Trio ($12) showcases avocado cilantro, roasted garlic and roasted red pepper varieties, while Salad flights ($15) offer Caprese, Caesar and green options.

You’ll want to pair a Sunday brunch flight of Eggs Benedict ($18) — pork belly, bacon and pulled pork — with a Bloody Mary trio ($19), the classic, spicy bacon and bloody beer versions served in stemless martini glasses. Not a tomato juice fan? Cocktail, beer and wine flights cover an entire side of the poster-sized laminated menu, offering up martini trios ($18), tropical slushy cocktails ($18) and the like.

And young guests choose from a Passport kids menu, which includes coloring and game pages. Kids, ages 10 and under, can build their own flight ($9) with options from three different columns. Shirley Temple, mini pepperoni pizza and some french fries? That sounds about right.

DON’T MISS: That french fry flight is a winner with its trio of truffle, garlic and sweet potato fries and various dipping sauces. (The super crispy, plain fries that accompany the kids meals are terrific, too.)

GOOD TO KNOW: Flights aside, you can also order a regular, full-sized drink from the bar, if you prefer. A Flights lunch special ($15) lets grown-ups do the one-item-from-three-columns thing, too, and order salad, a barbecue slider and some mac and cheese, for example.

PERFECT FOR … Friends or families who like to share bites, party gatherings and anyone who wants to catch the big game. Flights has seven big flat screens.

DETAILS: Open daily for lunch and dinner, and weekend brunch at 800 California Street, Suite 100, Mountain View; www.flightsrestaurants.com
