The morning after Jabeni tribe voted off Natalie and her bossy self, the four remaining players are having a good time without her. Angelina confesses that the only reason she voted for Lyrsa was an attempt to get Natalie to give her her coat.
Angelina had begged Natalie for it, but Natalie walked away without a word, coat in hand. Angelina’s tribemates — Mike, Lyrsa and Nick — talk about how deceptive Angelina was, pretending to cry over Natalie’s ouster. If she’d do that for a jacket, what else would she do?
Reward Challenge
Tribes will be playing for vegetable kabobs and cooking items. A player from each team is tied to a heavy bag of coconuts, carried by his or her teammates. The tethered player then must climb a ladder and cross a balance beam to retrieve four rings, while the team holds up the coconuts in order to give him or her enough rope. The rings are then tossed onto pegs.
Vuku takes the lead, but falls behind. Tiva takes first and Jabeni claims second.
Jabeni is happy with their two kabobs, but Mike, having seen how upset his fellow Goliaths were when they saw Natalie was gone, is starting to have second thoughts about getting rid of her. Nice realization there, Mike. Too bad it came 24 hours too late.
At Camp Tiva, Dan still is missing Kara, but he’s happy in his new tribe. He and John are buddies with Christian, and they call themselves the Brochachos. Christian, whose biggest fear is being ostracized, is thrilled to be accepted.
Someone who’s not thrilled is Christian’s closest friend, Gabby, who feels isolated and ignored because Dan and John isolate and ignore her. Gabby talks to Alison about her fears. Alison empathizes with Gabby and says that her heart and head are both telling her to team up with Gabby and Christian, and blindside Dan.
Alison knows Dan has an idol and that scares her. What she doesn’t know is that Dan has two hidden idols.
On Vuku, Elizabeth is tired of sleeping on uneven bamboo. Not long before coming to “Survivor,” she says, she couldn’t even get out of bed because her back hurt so bad. Now it’s starting to kill her again.
Everyone talks about splitting the bamboo but no one has done it, so Elizabeth gets Kara to help start the project. Davie and Carl think it’s an OK idea, but they think she should have started it first thing in the morning.
They say she can’t finish it by bedtime, and they put uncut bamboo back in the shelter. Elizabeth is steaming mad and she can’t keep it to herself. There’s a little showdown that amounts to nothing, except Kara realizes that the Davids — Elizabeth, Carl and Davie — are not united, and Carl says he might just have to get rid of Elizabeth.
Immunity Challenge
The tribes must carry a very large saucer and fill it with water, then cross an obstacle course to reach a well and dump it in. When the water reaches a certain level, it will drop a bag of puzzle pieces. They must then solve a circular puzzle.
Tiva fills its well in one go and Christian and Alison start on the puzzle. Vuku is comfortably in second, but Jabeni struggles carrying the water and has to make three trips, the last one ending in disaster when they drop the saucer and are too exhausted to try again. Tiva claims first place and immunity. Just as Jabeni is coming to the realization that all is lost, Vuku completes the puzzle and wins the last immunity idol.
Mike, who appeared to struggle more in the challenge, is in tears knowing that they are facing a tough choice. Voting off people isn’t as fun as he thought it would be.
Back at camp, the tribe blames the loss on the fact that the other tribe has more muscles. Mike is worried about what this vote will mean for the remaining Goliaths. Jabeni is split with two Goliaths and two Davids. Angelina tells Lyrsa that she and Mike are sticking together, and Lyrsa breaks the news to Nick.
Angelina goes to Nick and tells him that she wants to work with him, but Nick is loyal to Lyrsa and says he can’t vote for her. Maybe. Nick doesn’t trust Angelina, so he’s going to have a talk with Mike, the other half of his Rock Star alliance, about doing what’s best for them.
Lyrsa meanwhile says there’s no way she’s giving Angelina her jacket if she gets voted out, but she might give her a sock. The one with the hole in it.
Mike has no real love for Angelina, but he’s torn. He trusts Lyrsa over Angelina, but if he votes her off, he puts the Goliaths in a bad position.
Tribal Council
Jeff Probst says all four Jabeni appear to have a clear bond, and wonders if the old Goliath and David alliances are holding. Mike says there’s no wrong answer. They are all strong and anyone would be lucky to have an alliance with any of them. He says they’re thinking about trust and loyalty.
Lyrsa says that’s what it is for her, and that she has stronger bonds with these people than with her old alliances. Angelina starts talking about strategy, which probably isn’t a good thing because her fellow players already are suspicious of her strategies.
Nick says he’s there for the tribe, not the David or Goliath alliances. Angelina jumps in to praise and flatter Nick for his strength and blue eyes. Lyrsa thinks Angelina is trying to buy Nick’s vote. If she says she’s loyal to you, she’s loyal.
In the end, it’s original tribal alliances over new ones as Lyrsa is voted out, three to one.
Next time: The merge is here, and some are keeping alliances and some aren’t.
