Softball

No. 4 Livermore 6, No. 1 Granada 3

On the final day of the regular season, Livermore caught Granada atop the East Bay Athletic League standings, winning at home Thursday over its crosstown rival.

Livermore improved to 20-3-1 overall and 12-1 in league play. Granada dropped to 22-2, 12-1.

In the first round of the four-team league playoffs next week, Livermore will play host to California and Granada will visit San Ramon Valley.

Livermore’s victory Thursday avenged a March 15 loss to Granada.

Alizabeth Ruiz had a two-run single in the first to give Livermore a 2-0 lead. Anne Polaski singled to drive in Maggie Pyke and Jenn Morrison hit a two-run double in the third to extend the Cowboys’ lead to 5-0.

Granada, ranked No. 1 by the Bay Area News Group, responded with back-to-back home runs from Makayla Winchell and Sarah Deplitch to cut its deficit to 5-2 in the fourth.

Ruiz knocked in her third run of the game in the bottom of the fourth, extending fourth-ranked Livermore’s lead to 6-2.

Livermore held on to the lead to snap Granada’s 11-game win streak.

Taylor Rodriguez struck out 10 for Livermore.

No. 6 Benicia 13, Concord 2 (5 innings)

Benicia scored seven runs in the visitor’s half of the third inning in its Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division win over Concord.

UNLV-bound Lorenzza Marcacci went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, Bre Gomez knocked in two runs and Robyn Balmediano had a four-hit game.

Benicia is 16-5, 9-1. Concord fell to 4-16, 3-7.

Sequoia 9, San Mateo 3

Lillian Santos knocked in four runs on the road as Sequoia rolled past San Mateo in Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division play.

Emerson Seevers and Gigi Odom each had two RBIs and Ainsley Waddell threw a complete game, striking out 11.

Sequoia improved to 15-6, 8-4. San Mateo is 6-12, 3-8.

No. 18 Willow Glen 12, Gunderson 1 (5 innings)

Willow Glen clinched the Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa Division title after rolling past host Gunderson.

Haley Ocumen homered and had three RBIs and Ally Anderson pitched a four-hitter. The Rams have won 17 straight games, outscoring opponents 222-48 during that stretch, and improved to 12-0, 23-2.

Gunderson slipped to 1-13, 0-12.

Baseball

No. 13 Liberty 5, Heritage 3

David Roberts pitched 6 ⅓ innings and struck out eight in Liberty’s home Bay Valley Athletic League win over crosstown rival Heritage.

Nick Goff went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and got the save for the Lions, who improved to 19-5, 10-0.

Jalen Owens knocked in a pair of runs for Heritage, which fell to 15-9, 6-4.

Saratoga 4, Lynbrook 0

Lucas Dennis pitched a no-hitter and had a two-run triple in Saratoga’s away win against Lynbrook in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division play.

Saratoga improved to 11-13, 7-6. Lynbrook slipped to 6-7.

Northgate 5, Campolindo 4

Northgate scored a go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to beat host Campolindo in DAL Foothill Division play.

Ian Wright went 3 for 4, Charlie Watson knocked in two runs and Logan Wortman got the save.

Northgate improved to 8-15, 3-9. Campolindo fell to 11-10, 4-6.

Gunn 30, Monta Vista 0

Gunn, playing at home, had a 15-run second inning in its rout of Monta Vista in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division play.

Twelve players drove in a run for Gunn, with Charlie Deggeller leading the way with four. Gunn improved to 13-10-1, 11-1-1.

Monta Vista slipped to 5-19, 0-12.
