Santa Teresa softball player Kassandra Soria edged College Park softball player Alexis Sealey to be named Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week for April 18-24.
In voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Soria had 9,266 (33.19%) votes to Sealey’s 9,107 (32.63%).
Alameda softball player Jasmine Whorley (4,008 votes, 14.36%) finished third.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Soria, a Simpson (Redding) University signee, drove in five runs with a homer and double in a 22-0 win over Leigh. Later in the week, the third baseman helped turn a key double play in a 4-3 win over Westmont.
She began this week hitting .469 with six homers for the Saints.
