Girls basketball

No. 2 Archbishop Mitty 54, No. 4 St. Ignatius 44

Archbishop Mitty found itself in a rare tight West Catholic Athletic League game Tuesday night in San Francisco against St. Ignatius.

The Monarchs trailed by a point in the fourth quarter when Claire Untalan scored for the Wildcats.

Mitty, second behind Carondelet in the Bay Area News Group Top 20, responded by scoring 13 of the final 15 points to beat fourth-ranked St. Ignatius.

The Monarchs improved to 16-1 overall and 5-0 in the WCAL.

SI fell to 12-4, 3-1.

Noemie Bariteau was huge for Mitty, sinking four 3-pointers to finish with 15 points. Maya Hernandez (14 points) and Morgan Cheli (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Monarchs.

After SI went up 42-41, Bariteau made the last of her 3-pointers to give Mitty the lead for good.

Siena Guttadauro and Hernandez followed with baskets to widen the advantage to 48-42.

Mitty has won 17 in a row over SI.

No. 7 San Ramon Valley 62, No. 13 Granada 21

San Ramon Valley continued to sizzle, winning its 13th consecutive game as Sadie Carter (17 points) and Natalie Pasco (16 points) led the Wolves to an East Bay Athletic League victory at home over Granada.

SRV improved to 15-2, 5-0. Granada is 14-2, 4-2.

No. 12 Monte Vista 79, Foothill 33

Monte Vista, playing at home in Danville, held Foothill to nine points in the first half on its way to a victory in EBAL play.

Alexis Woodson (19 points), Nia Coleman (16 points), Sarah Brans (14 points) and Sarina Nagra (12 points) led the way for Monte Vista.

The Mustangs are 13-5, 5-1. They visit No. 1 Carondelet tonight.

Foothill is 4-12, 1-4.

No. 17 Evergreen Valley 68, Silver Creek 32

Evergreen Valley stretched its winning streak to 10 games, breezing on its home court in San Jose past Silver Creek in a Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division game.

Ryka Aprameyan led the Cougars with 23 points. Sanya Chaturvedi (11 points), Michelle Ngyuen (10 points) and Sophia Williams (10 points) also reached double figures in the scoring column.

Evergreen led by 16 after the first quarter and 19 at halftime. The Cougars had no letdown after the break, outscoring Silver Creek 19-2 in the third quarter.

The victory improved Evergreen’s record to 15-1, 5-0.

Silver Creek is 9-4, 1-3.

Elsewhere

Top-ranked Carondelet had no problems at home against Amador Valley as the Concord school built a 36-14 halftime cushion and then really turned it on, outscoring the Dons 31-5 in the third quarter. Carondelet, winners of five in a row, improved to 15-1 overall and 3-0 in the EBAL. Amador Valley is 12-5, 2-2. … Third-ranked Salesian rolled over Bethel 59-15 in Tri-County Athletic League play. Thirteen players scored for Salesian, led by Ariel Anderson, Silivia Fonongaloa and Nevaeh Asiasi, who had eight points apiece. The Pride improved to 11-3.

Boys basketball

No. 16 San Ramon Valley 61, No. 15 Granada 56

Granada was on the verge of a bounce-back victory Tuesday night from a tough loss Sunday at Dougherty Valley, leading at home in Livermore over San Ramon Valley by six points in the fourth quarter.

But just as the loss to Dougherty ended in heartbreak for Granada, so too did this one. San Ramon Valley scored the final 11 points to run its record to 10-4, 4-1.

Seamus Deely (17 points) and Mason Thomas (16 points) led the Wolves, who visit Dublin on Thursday.

Kevin Gad had 26 points for Granada, which fell to 11-5, 3-3.

No. 6 Sacred Heart Prep 89, Harker 34

For the second day in a row, Sacred Heart Prep played Harker in a West Bay Athletic League game. Once again, SHP rolled, winning nearly by the same score as Monday’s result.

The Gators won at home Monday 87-38.

In the rematch at Harker, Aidan Braccia scored 19 points and Emmer Nichols finished with 16 to lead SHP, which improved to 13-3, 6-0.

Harker fell to 8-9, 2-5.

No. 14 Moreau Catholic 67, Irvington 47

Moreau, playing on the road in Fremont, stayed unbeaten in Mission Valley Athletic League play with a victory over Irvington.

Matthew Villanueva (20 points, seven rebounds) and Trey Knight (17 points, seven steals) propelled the Mariners. Kellen Hampton and Robert Morgan each chipped in with 10 points as Moreau improved to 15-4 overall and 7-0 in the MVAL.

Irvington is 9-9, 4-3.

Second-ranked Dougherty Valley improved to 18-1 overall and 5-1 in the EBAL with a 74-45 victory over at Livermore, which fell to 3-14, 0-5. … No. 5 De La Salle had a dominant defensive performance, cruising on the road past Amador Valley 48-24 in EBAL play. The Spartans are 14-4, 3-2. Amador is 9-6, 1-2. … Leading by eight after three quarters, No. 13 Dublin pulled away in the fourth on its home court to defeat California 66-49. The Gaels improved to 11-4, 4-1. California is 10-8, 2-3. … After a slow first quarter, No. 20 Los Altos came back to win on the road over Homestead 54-43 in Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division play. Los Altos is 14-3, 5-1. Homestead slipped to 8-10, 2-4.
