Eric Hakes, of Concord, with the help of his family and employees started his Christmas display project the first week of October and is nearing completion.
Four years ago, Hakes’ daughters asked him to put up lights at their home. Hakes, who is the president of Bug Zappers Pest Control, doesn’t do anything small, so when he put up a Christmas display he went big time. He currently is using around 400 tinsel characters on a three-story platform built in front of his home. He also built a 12-foot Star Wars Imperial AT-AT and an Imperial base from the moon of Endor in his front yard, complete with a 14-foot Imperial shuttle surrounded by 50 lighted stormtroopers.
His neighbor, Denise Ezial, stopped by with fresh baked cookies and cakes to help feed everyone working feverishly to complete the project on time.
Families be warned, if you decide to visit his Concord castle at 771 Terrapin Court, be patient and expect long lines of cars, as people stop to admire and take pictures.
