The forecast high winds arrived late Monday across much of California, and in the Bay Area gusts of almost 100 mph were recorded.
At 4 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported these peak speeds (in mph) from the previous three hours:
- 97, the Geysers, Sonoma County
- 95, top of Pine Flat Road, Sonoma County
- 84, Mount Diablo
- 82, Mount St. Helena
- 78, Mount Umunhum
- 75, Mission Peak
- 74, Healdsburg hills
- 67, Fay Hill, Moraga
- 66, Gunsight Fire Road, Marin County
- 66, Blackhawk
A high wind warning has been extended until 10 a.m. Tuesday for areas above 1,000 feet in the North Bay, East Bay and counties of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz.
