RICHMOND — Police here are investigating the death of a man who was shot and killed Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Richmond police have identified the victim as a 25-year-old man, but his identity is not being made public until the family is informed of his death. The victim was shot and killed around 3 p.m. Thursday near the Barrett Plaza, at the intersection of 7th Street and Barrett Avenue, police said.
A gunfire detector recorded dozens of shots being fired, police said. Police believe the suspect and the victim argued shortly before the shooting, possibly over some property.
The killing is Richmond’s 18th homicide of 2020, including one fatal police shooting in April.
