OAKLAND — A 39-year-old man was killed and two other people were wounded in a shooting Thursday night in the city’s Webster neighborhood in East Oakland, authorities said.
The name of the man killed has not been released. Authorities said a 58-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man were wounded.
Authorities have not said if the victims knew each other.
The shooting happened shortly before 8:35 p.m. Thursday in the area of 89th Avenue and International Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found the two men and the woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the 1400 block of 89th Avenue and provided emergency life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the 39-year-old man died at the scene.
The woman suffered a graze wound to the face, and the other man was wounded in the lower body, authorities said. Both victims were taken to hospitals, where they were initially listed in stable condition late Thursday.
One resident, who declined to identify himself, said he heard four gunshots ring out: “I can’t say I was standing there. That’d be lying. … It’s just a shame, man. This is ridiculous. I hear this so often it don’t even mean nothing anymore.”
Police have not released a motive for the shooting and have not announced any arrests.
Officers briefly blocked off eastbound traffic at 88th Avenue and westbound traffic at 90th Avenue, including AC Transit buses, while gathering evidence.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $20,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or 510-238-7950 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
