OAKLAND — A 22-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.
The man’s name has not yet been released. He is believed to be an Oakland resident.
The man was found at about 9:15 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of 75th Avenue in the city’s Fitchburg neighborhood after officers responded to ShotSpotter alerts.
The man was inside a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency life-saving measures by officers, the man was later pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A motive for the killing has not yet been determined and no arrests have been made.
With the fatal shooting, Oakland police have now investigated 93 homicides in the city this year, 87 of which are considered murders. For all of last year police investigated 78 homicides in the city, of which 75 were classified as murders.
