San Ramon Valley kicker Austin Shelton is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Nov. 28-Dec. 3 after he had 41.88% of the vote at the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.
Pinole Valley football player Maddox Wu (30.85%) finished second and Archbishop Mitty basketball player Derek Sangster (18.14%) took third.

With 18 seconds left, Shelton split the uprights from 37 yards out in a cold rainstorm to lift host San Ramon Valley to a 19-17 victory over Marin Catholic for the NorCal Division 2-A championship on Saturday night.
Shelton also kicked a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter.
SRV will play Granite Hills-El Cajon for the 2-A state title on Saturday in Mission Viejo.
