Patriotism and First Amendment rights were on display Saturday on the Fourth of July in the Bay Area. Residents exercised their right to assemble with car parades in San Jose, patriotically decorated porches in Fremont and with others questioning what Independence Day means to them during times of heightened racial division in the country.
