Re: “US has confined citizens, guilty of nothing, before” (Letters to the editor, May 21):

Why is Howard Myers, executive vice president of the Liberty Forum of Silicon Valley, comparing the current stay-at-home orders to what happened to Japanese Americans in World War II?

• Is one ethnic group being singled out?
•  Are people being forcibly removed from their homes and moved to camps under armed guards?
• Are people losing their homes and property?
• Japanese-Americans were locked up from 1942-1945. Now, after just two months we’re seeing the stay-at-home orders relaxed.

There is no comparison, except in both cases the actions were responses to very real wars. Give our local leaders some leeway as they balance public and economic health.
