There were about 5,802 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in California as of Wednesday, Sept. 2, according to Southern California News Group research of all county health dashboards in the state. There were 160 new deaths reported, bringing the total number of deaths related to the virus to 13,281.

The number of COVID-19 diagnostic test results reported in California reached 11,580,370, as of Wednesday, an increase of 109,674 tests since Tuesday. The rate of positive tests over the last 14 days is 5.1 percent.

All data on the state tracker is preliminary and subject to change.

Between Monday and Tuesday, there were 76 fewer hospitalizations due to confirmed COVID-19 cases and three additional cases in intensive care units.  There were 4,255 new confirmed cases Tuesday.

Numbers do not represent true day-over-day change as these results include cases from prior to yesterday.
