Those on the front lines, health care workers, first responders, and all others that are keeping your lights on, water running, refrigerator filled, waste picked up and your town or city moving during the COVID-19 pandemic were shown thanks as city skylines across the country transformed into a beacon of blue at 8 p.m. local time on Thursday.
Hundreds of structures including major sporting and entertainment venues, national landmarks and historic buildings were illuminated with blue lights in solidarity of the nation’s gratitude for the tireless efforts of those on the front lines.
The #LightItBlue initiative originated in the United Kingdom a couple of weeks ago when over 100 landmarks were lit with blue light.
