OAKLAND — Two men were wounded in separate shootings about four hours apart Tuesday in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.

Police said they do not believe that the shootings were related.

Around 4:10 p.m. a ShotSpotter alert signalled 20 rounds fired off. Responding officers found that a 19-year-old man was wounded multiple times in the 4700 block of Fairfax Avenue, near his home.

The man was apparently shot by someone as he was walking. He was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Some parked vehicles were also hit by gunfire but no other injuries were reported.

Police have not released a motive yet for the shooting and have not made any arrests.

Around 8:15 p.m. an 18-year-old man was shot in the 8500 block of Dowling Street near 85th Avenue as he walked to a store. He was able to get his own transportation to a hospital and was in stable condition.

Some parked vehicles and at least one building was also hit by gunfire but no other injuries were reported.

Police said numerous shots were fired in the area and investigators are trying to determine if the man wounded was an intended target or was hit by a stray bullet fired during a shootout in the area between other people.

No motive has been determined yet for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
