City’s small business grants
The application period for Sunnyvale Cares, a small business grant program, was set to open on May 27 at 1 p.m. and run through June 2 at 1 p.m.
Through a combination of city funds and private donations, Sunnyvale small businesses will have access to $1.3 million to assist with impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic. The program offers grants up to $15,000 for qualified small businesses.
Businesses must have between one and 50 full-time employees. Restaurants may have up to 100 full-time employees. Grant funds will be awarded by lottery system and may be used to cover payroll, rent, inventory and personal protective equipment.
The city committed $600,000 in matching funds to Sunnyvale Cares. Initial private donations came from Google ($300,000), LinkedIn ($100,000), Intuitive Foundation ($200,000) and Jay Paul Company ($100,000).
