Dublin football player Angel Barraza is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 31 to Nov. 5 after he had received 19,154 votes (38.37%) at the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline.
Pittsburg football player Marley Alcantara (18,069 votes, 36.19%) finished second and Westmont football player Gavin Garcia placed third.

Barraza, in what turned out to be his final high school game, threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns to help lead Dublin to a 48-18 victory over Dougherty Valley in East Bay Athletic League Valley Division play.
The senior completed 13 of 18 passes as the Gaels, who weren’t selected for the North Coast Section playoffs, finished 6-4.
