Saratoga quarterback Shane Timmons is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 17-22 after he finished with 22,903 votes (38.56%) at the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline.
He narrowly edged Amador Valley water polo player Noah Cole, who had 36.79% of the vote. Sacred Heart Cathedral football player RL Miller took third.

Timmons threw for 509 yards and five touchdowns, completing 29 of 45 attempts, as Saratoga lost to Fremont-Sunnyvale 42-36 in a PAL/SCVAL Lake Division game.
The 6-foot-2 junior also ran for 62 yards in seven carries.
