Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week: Rachel Stephens, Los Gatos water polo

Rachel Stephens had 15 saves in a 10-5 win over Granite Bay in the NorCal Division II playoffs.

Los Gatos water polo player Rachel Stephens is the Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week of Nov. 14-19 after she received 7,047 votes (36.31%) by the 5 p.m. deadline on Wednesday

Alhambra cross country runner Renae Searls grabbed 6,027 votes (31.05%) to finish second behind Stephens.

Dougherty cross country runner Sabrina Noriega finished third.

Stephens, Los Gatos’ junior goalkeeper, had 244 saves over the course of the Cats’ season. Stephens had 15 of those in a 10-5 win over Granite Bay in the NorCal Division II playoffs. Los Gatos bowed out in the second round with a loss to Arroyo Grande.
