El Camino football player Antonio Arenas is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Sept. 26-Oct. 1 after he received 29,889 votes (41.57%) by the end of the voting period Wednesday.
Arenas narrowly defeated runner-up Christian Aguilar, a Clayton Valley football player.
Aguilar had 28,586 votes (39.70%).
Sacred Heart Cathedral football player Aidan McGrath finished third.

Arenas ran for three touchdowns, returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and scored on a two-point conversion to lead El Camino to a 34-24 victory over Fremont-Sunnyvale in PAL/SCVAL Lake Division play.
The senior running back finished with more than 200 total yards as El Camino (3-2, 2-0) extended its winning streak to three games.
