David Spade has remained mighty busy during a career that dates back to the late ’80s.

The Michigan native came to widespread fame in the ’90s as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” a platform that allowed Spade’s brand of sarcastic and self-deprecating humor to shine and flourish.

From “SNL,” Spade made the jump from small to big screen as he appeared in such films as “Tommy Boy,” “Black Sheep” and “A Very Brady Sequel.” And, of course, who can forget that “Joe Dirt” film? (Actually, judging by the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, one suspects a lot of critics would like to forget “Joe Dirt,” but Spade had the last laugh since the movie did well at the box office.)

He’s also done a lot of voiceover work, earning credits in “The Rugrats Movie,” “The Emperor’s New Groove,” the “Hotel Transylvania” franchise and other animated films.

Spade returned to the small screen to appear in two highly successful sitcoms — “Just Shoot Me!” and “Rules of Engagement.”

On top of all that, he has remains very active in the stand-up comedy realm. Which brings us to this weekend, when Spade’s stand-up tour lands in the South Bay.
