SAN JOSE — A man is dead after crashing his car into a semi-truck on Highway 101 early Tuesday, authorities said.
The victim, a 22-year-old San Jose man, was northbound on 101, just south of Tully Road, around 1:15 a.m. when he crashed his 2017 Honda Accord into the back of a big rig going about 55 mph, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the semi-truck driver, a 40-year-old Hollister man, was uninjured, CHP said. The cause of the collision was still under investigation.
CHP closed all but one northbound lane for the investigation. All lanes had reopened by 3:15 a.m.
No other information was immediately available.
