OAKLAND —  The police investigation continued Monday into a Saturday night shooting in East Oakland that left a woman dead and a man wounded.

The names of the victims have not yet been released by police nor has their relationship. The two were in their 30s and lived in the area of the shooting,  authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 8:02 p.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of 65th Avenue, a residential area south of Outlook Avenue.

Police found the two suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition Sunday.

Police have not yet said what they believe the motive for the shooting was or if the two were shot by someone in a passing vehicle or by someone who approached them on the street. No arrests have been made.

The death is the 66th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated 62 homicides in the city.
