We’ve been counting down the days to this week, in large part because it brings the one and only Bryan Ferry back to the Bay Area. Here’s a look at your week in music:

Bryan Ferry

He’s the leader of one of the greatest bands of all time — Roxy Music — which was finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this year.

The set lists for Ferry’s solo tour have been incredible, filled with such mesmerizing offerings as “While My Heart Is Still Beating,” “Avalon,” “Editions of You” and “If There Is Something.”

On some nights, Ferry’s even been mixing in the staggeringly beautiful “To Turn You On,” a tune that hasn’t been in regular rotation at his concerts since 2011.

So fingers definitely crossed for that one when he performs Aug. 31 at the Fox Theater in Oakland.

Femme Schmidt opens the show.

Smashing Pumpkins, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds

Any chance to hear the face-melting “Muzzle” — by far, the Pumpkins’ best song — played live is one we take very seriously.

The Pumpkins, Gallagher and the East Bay’s own AFI perform Aug. 31 at Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View.
