SAN JOSE – Authorities on Thursday arrested three men on suspicion of forcing their way into a San Jose home and taking half a dozen people hostage, including a 1-year-old child.
About 12:40 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the 4200 block of Senter Road for a report of a break-in and an assault, said San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
Garcia said at least one adult escaped from the home with the child and called 911.
Officers arrested one suspect outside the residence and set up a perimeter. Hostage negotiators arrived about 1 a.m., and two suspects inside the home surrendered just after 7 a.m., Garcia said.
The suspects were identified as 29-year-old Daniel Michael Salazar and 31-year-old Andrew Steven Maldonado, both of San Jose, and 26-year-old Alfredo Sanchez Moreno, of Hanford. They were booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges including burglary, false imprisonment, and assault and battery.
Senter Road was closed in the immediate area while negotiators tried to convince the suspects to surrender.
