The houses are decorated to scare, pumpkins are everywhere and costumes are flying off the shelves. Yes, it’s Halloween season — and we’re on a mission to find the greatest Halloween candy of all time, with your help.

Earlier this month, we asked readers to vote for their favorite Halloween sweets. The bracket-style competition started with a field of 32, then narrowed to the Sweet 16.

We’ve tabulated the latest batch of votes and we’re ready to unveil the Elite 8 — drum roll, please. They include Snickers (which beat out former crowd-fave Milky Way with 66 percent of the vote) and Kit Kat (which trounced Skittle’s by the same margin). Peanut M&M’s, with 63 percent of the votes, melted its competition, Nestle’s Crunch.

The Butterfinger (55 percent) v. Hershey’s battle was closer. Even closer? The plain M&Ms (51 percent) and Rolo’s match-up. Who’d have thought?

But there was no contest between Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Almond Joy: Those chocolatey PB cups took 80-percent of the vote.

Twix and Tootsie Rolls round out the top eight.

Now it’s time to vote! Third-round voting closes at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22. Voting for the Final Four begins at 4 p.m. that afternoon.
