OAKLAND — The A’s extended their win streak to five games with a 9-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.
Matt Chapman accounted for five of the runs, hitting a two-run single in the third inning and a two-run home run in the fifth. Chapman’s home run was his 22nd of the season.
Matt Olson followed Chapman’s blast in the fifth with a solo home run, his 20th of the season. His season didn’t even start until May 7 for him following a return from hamate surgery.
Josh Phegley collected two RBIs on an eighth inning single up the middle. Ramon Laureano went 2 for 4, manufacturing his own run on a double, stolen base and scoring on an errant throw.
Daniel Mengden tossed seven innings, striking out three without giving up a walk. Mengden has not walked a single batter in his past three starts.
The Mariners’ only runs came courtesy of Omar Narvaez. He hit a solo blast in the second inning off Mengden and one in the ninth inning off Blake Treinen.
