Steph Curry isn’t just a superstar. He’s also probably pretty good at chasing a ball, rolling over and snuggling on the couch.

We’re talking about Steph Curry, the dog, that is, not Steph Curry the famous Golden State Warriors’ point guard.

San Francisco Bay Area pet owners are increasingly naming their dogs after the MVP shooter. Rover.com, an online network of pet sitters and dog walkers, says the name is up by 50 percent this year.

This is the sixth year the company has mined its database to determine the most popular dog names in the country, and analyzed the results looking for trends. Among its findings:

  • A third of all dog names — 36 percent — are human names, and many of those are also on the “top names for babies” list.
  • Pop culture names are once again among the most popular, with names inspired by
actors, musicians and the royal family.
  • We still like naming our dogs after adult beverages — Whiskey, Porter, Guinness, Brandy and Amber — but some libations are dropping in popularity. Rosé is down 44 percent.
  • Hipsters have some hip names for their pets: Soy, Inari, Oak, Brew and Bae are the most popular.
  • The name Stormi is up 240 percent.
  • Music-inspired names include Cardi, up 1,250 percent; Freddie Mercury, up 67 percent; and Gambino, up 190 percent.
  • Retro names — Minnie, Pearl, Willie, Harry and Fred — are up 17 percent.
  • The most influential movies for dog names are “Guardians of the Galaxy” (the name Drax is up 186 percent), “Rogue One,” “Wonder Woman,” “Thor” and “Avengers.”
  • Not all the names are from heroes, though. We also have a love for villains. Loki, Bane, Sid, Anakin and Lex were all popular, but Pennywise was up 500 percent and Thanos increased by 215 percent.
  • Top royal names were Sophie, George, Prince, Charlotte and Harry.
