MARTINEZ — A Vallejo elementary school teacher was arrested Thursday after he allegedly arranged to meet with an undercover officer posing as a teen girl.
Vallejo resident Andrew Stephen Lund, 36, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to send harmful material to a minor and attempting to engage in sex with a minor less than 16 years of age, authorities said. Contra Costa prosecutors expect to file charges against him on Friday.
Lund’s Linkedin account identifies him as a fourth-grade teacher at Glen Cove Elementary School in Vallejo. He was paid $100,358.32 in salary and benefits in 2016, according to records.
As part of the investigation, authorities showed up to the elementary school and searched his classroom. The arrest did not involve students at the school, police said. School district officials say he has been placed on leave.
Authorities say before moving to Vallejo, Lund had worked as a teacher in Glenn County and San Diego, as well as Illinois and Wisconsin.
Vallejo school district superintendent Adam Clark released a statement saying the district would cooperate with law enforcement and that he understood the situation was “greatly concerning” to parents.
Lund is just the latest Bay Area school official to be arrested for allegedly trying to have sex with someone they thought was a teen. Earlier this month, a network engineer in the Martinez Unified School District was arrested for allegedly trying to meet an undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl. Both arrests were conducted by a Contra Costa District Attorney task force that investigates internet crimes against children.
Lund is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, records show.
