District attorney honored for sex trafficking work

Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley has been honored for her work protecting victims of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse and human trafficking.

The Alliance for HOPE International awarded O’Malley its 2017 lifetime achievement award earlier this month.

O’Malley was recognized for her work establishing the Alameda County Family Justice Center, which brings together law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates and counselors in one location for victims to receive help. She also founded a Camp HOPE program that sends children exposed to domestic violence to summer camp to help them get past the trauma.
