Here we are, ice cream fans: The fantastic, final four scoop shops in our Best Ice Cream competition.
Three weeks ago, we asked readers to help us choose the Bay Area’s tastiest scoop shops, bracket-style. And you delivered, narrowing down 32 nominations to the Sweet 16 and then the Elite 8. And now, the results of the Frozen Four have come in, and there were a few surprises.
Pleasanton’s Meadowlark beat out Oakland’s Fentons, 54 to 45 percent, and San Jose’s Treat bested Petaluma-based Three Twins with 72 percent of the votes. In another exciting race, Santa Cruz’s beloved Marianne’s triumphed over Willow Glen Creamery, 57 percent to 43 percent. And, finally, in the ultimate gourmet competition, Bi-Rite topped Humphry Slocombe, 55-45.
So, where do we go from here? Down to your top two scoop shops, ice cream fanatics. Cast your votes now. Don’t forget to use Firefox or Safari as your browser — Chrome is being problematic — and be sure to click the “done” button when you’re finished to submit your votes.
